Christmas gifts for you

I love to create things out of stuff that I already have. It's the thrifty part of me. I thought up this little denim bulb in my head two days ago

I thought maybe I could make these for family gifts . Or maybe if there is enough interest I can sell them. They are made with recycled denim. I little bit of sewing on the machine. Some hand sticking and a button from my mother-in-laws button stash.

I am thinking...Why do I think to much and complicate things

I am thankful...My God and Savior who is not complicated

In the kitchen...Just bakes chocolate chip cookies to warm the house up.

This word is something that I need to do during times of clutter in my mind.

Simplify......is not easy for me. I wish it was. I want to do so much in a short amount of time that I complicate my day before it even begins.

I have dreams and desires that I wish I could make come true. I want to create when I feel like it. I want to have unlimited resource so that nothing will stop me.

One thing I know is..... God has unlimited resource for me to tap into. I just need to SIMPLY let go and let him lead me.

Okay, I will work on this.

This week has been one of those tough weeks for pretty much everything.
Kids are arguing, bickering,complaining ect.

I have even jumped on board with them. I have been yelling, complaining,grumbling and down right irritable.

I don't know about you, but I do not like the way I feel while all of this is going on. I wish I could erase all the hurt and pain that I make and also feel.
When I am in the middle of all the muck, I need to remember to reach out my hands and ask for help.

Help from the one who is always there.
Help when I don't think I need it.
Help and then fall to my knees and give it ALL to him.

So simple, yet not thought of during these challenging times.

A song comes to my mind.
" I'm falling on my knees, offering all of me, Jesus your all this heart is living for"

Chicken tractors

Have you ever heard of them?
Do you have one?

Well I would love to own one and hope to create one for our lovely chickens.
I have pictures and designs that inspire me.

This one on top looks cozy and a bit small for six rhode island reds. But it's cute.

I was drawn to this tractor until I saw the one below

This coop looks like a tree house for chickens, don't you think? I guess I am thinking I am tall and I want to beagle to stand and get this yummy eggs.

So if you own one could you share with me your plans? Failures? And even
ideas? I hope to find more chicken tractor ideas.

Stillness

Have you ever injured yourself and not know how it happened?

Well that's me, I hurt my back getting myself dressed for work.

How did it happen? I don't know ! So since Tuesday I have been either on my back , or sitting in a very straight backed chair. Neither one is very comfortable.

I am taking some medication for this extreme pain.
I am very inpatient and want this done and over with like yesterday!

Then I look at all that is around me, my husband and my children , dogs that show there licky affection, a house that looks lived in . How blessed I am to have all these things. Stop complaining Jenn!

Most of all the peace of the Lord is ever present during this time of stillness.

The Lord would say" be still and know that I am God" yes I know I have to be still.

Stillness in body,heart and mind.

A heart with imagination

My title is something that hopped out of my head during a time of lowness. Why do I feel faint in heart. When the wind blows and you stand firm against it, I say I must not give up. But my heart cries out and says HELP ME!

1. My heart does have imagination.

2. My heart is full of hope.

3. My heart is looks to My Father in heaven.

4.My heart feels the hands of protection.

5.My heart sees what the blind does not see.

and then there is His heart.........

6. His heart KNOWS my heart.

7. His heart sees deeper then anyone can see.

8. His heart longs for my my hands to reach out and cry... DADDY!!

9. His heart breaks when my heart breaks.

10. His heart hears those unspoken hurts and pains.. and yet...... He still loves me.

p.s. It is hard to count 1000 gifts I am sure there are many that I don't see. I hope to have my eyes open to His grace and mercy and that is new every morning

Looking in from the outside

My trip to Virginia was wonderful in many ways. Having long conversation with many and and even short meaningful words received.

However, I have walked away with a newness in heart and hope that I can express the very thing that I am feeling.

There are four different ways I seen love given, received and remembered.

My first look in was looking into the eyes of one who longs and misses her true love. I see the hurt and pain that is caused by never being able to see or touch her spouse, but received the healing through talking, crying and looking through old pictures of the days that he lived.

Secondly, The visiting on two that are just united and seeing the passion in the eyes of one who truly can't believe that she is worthy of such a love and yet is so blessed to receive such a love. The newly weds have such a gaze that is hard to put into words. It is such a faraway feeling for me, but comes alive when seeing the two who are just happy to have each other.

Thirdly,seeing the eyes of my father look upon his bride of 13 years.And seeing that they are there for each other. She is there for him ,as well as he for her. His silent words speak so loudly to me, and moves me to look at the deeper things that I choose not to look at because of fear.

And last but not least, The love of my grandparents. She is 87 and he is 91 and they just want to be with one another no matter what. She is physically blind, but yearns to hear him breath next to her in there bed. He is unable to walk with out help and just wants to be home with her at his side. She listens to him read there daily devotional, even if he is not clear the words melt into her heart.........I want this, I need this....

So I came home with a newness of heart and my eyes have seen and heard that there is restoration and healing .... and a NEW feeling of love in my heart for Tom Bernhardt... My love.

Going on a trip

The kids and I are going on a trip to VA. This trip is meant to bless those who have lost a loved one as of last year. Lose is difficult to think about. However, it stirs and helps us to grow no matter how it makes us feel.

The road that we go down during our heart aches is so unpredictable, yet in the end the Lord really does have a purpose . We may only see lines like a map and not know what direction we are to go in.

But He knows.

I am so greatful for His cleansing power. That he washes me white as snow.

So during my trip I will bless the widow. I will lend a ear. I will shed some tears for the heart that is longing for it's partner. I will hug the parents that have lost a son. I will look into the eyes of a brother who has lost a sibling.

I hope that you all can bless someone who needs a hug, or someone who just needs to talk.

Being thankful no matter what

Today I am choosing to be thankful even when it's difficult.

I am thankful for my husband who was there when the car stopped working this morning.

I am thankful for a warm home to come home to.

I am thankful for dishes that need to be done. It means we have food in our cabinets.

I am thankful for my children , even if they do argue. It just means that they love each other and are trying to work things out.

I am thankful for laundry that needs to be done, it means we have clothes for our backs.

and most of all!

I am thankful for my salvation, because I don't deserve it, but HE thought I did.

Outside my window...IS to much snow... we have had storm #1 come through and now are waiting for storm # 2.

I am thinking...That I need to stop complaining about this weather. I live in NY for goodness sake.

Snowy mornings

This morning I woke up to the smell of wood burning in a wood stove. Now mind you I don't own one. My neighbor has an outside wood furnace. I looked outside and the snow was gently flowing through the air, like a picture on a Christmas card. How wonderfully refreshing.

I then went to make coffee so that Tom and I can have our quiet time before the rumble and tumble of the kids and animals.

I love how the peace of our God can show it's self in the simple things that surround us.

Chicken pox

My poor Chris has the chicken pox..... he was pretty upset at first... we had plans and now he can't do them. However now he is telling me how everyone of them feels... and its like he can feel new ones come in.... pretty funny I know.

He is a bit uncomfortable, fever,dizzy and stomach ache.... so i am trying to give him what i can to ease his pain.

Well I will keep you all posted as to how this all goes.....blessings eveyone

Today was a wonderful day at the park with friends..... for the kids and us mom's.
The older kids played a game of frisbee and the little ones were playing there version of wiffle ball.
And lucky for me .... and friend of mine brought her camera.... and loves to take pictures... thanks Becky!!!

Today was another running day... boy was it tough... the humidity in the air was thick like pea soup. Coffee before my run ( something i have to do ) didn't even clear up my air waves.

BUT... we did great time ... we evenwent further then planned... and we did so well... I am amazed!!! I am so glad that i am doing this.

It was a little bit of a struggle for me this morning.

I think my body is starting to protest... or maybe it's my brain... or both!!

My sister has joined me... it's so nice to have someone else struggling with you.

We both decided that we will repeat week 1 again.... going over this one hill up here is a tough thing for 2 physically challenged people.... but we are determined .

So today was the second day of my training.

I am surprised at myself.

Yesterday I was in pain.... today I woke up and actually did my rotation.

It is amazing to me what our bodies were made to do this... what is wrong with may brain.

I am glad to be able to see my goal .... and excited to do it.

I have been thinking alot about goal setting.

I find that if I don't set goal for myself I feel lost

not knowing what direction to go.

Now I get bord with the same old stuff that I do everyday ( I think I have a attention problem) and i was thinking that I need a goal for myself.... so I decided to start training to run a 5K.... Yes , I know i am crazy.... Yes, i am over weight..... Yes my body is screaming at me.... But this is the goal I am working towards... August 1... there is a 5K in Albany NY... and I am going to do it.... YES.... so watch me limp and grown.... I will do this

Bekah my 10 year old daughter saw some of the beautiful blogs over here, and she thought that she would put together a place setting to share. These are some of her favorites that she likes that I have in my hutch.
She decided that a hydrangea flower would look lovely on the side of these Currier and Ives plates.
With a nice touch of stripping in the napkin which brings out the pink in the flowered tea cup.
This is one of our very fancy tea cup that Bekah's Aunt gave to her... she thought it was very pleasant to the eye. Well thank you for looking at Bekah's creation... she is already planning another one.

Now this is a blog that I would love to participate in. The pictures that the women have posted , I could only dream of having in my home... Some day I would love to be able to have such glamorous things .

Now in my home because of family and practicality. I have things that I Cherish hidden in my hutch.... but yet do come out for a little girls tea party, or a women's tea social.

I have a dream picture that I would like to share..... I don't even know were I found this....But it is beautiful in my mind.

So Maybe next time I will bring out my own dishes that are safely put away from this house of life and joy , and share with you my treasures.

This picture is a random pic of the kids so eager to play in our pool even if it is only 60 degrees outside....brrrrr
This is the lily of the valley ... one of my grandmother's favorite flowers....I planted it for her.
I have strawberry plants growing in my garden... this the third year... hopefully the bunnies will leave them alone this year.
And finally , Evening Primrose..... this was Mother's day gift to me 2 years ago... it like the early spring.... it was more full with flowers about a week ago.... thank you for looking at my world that surrounds me and my house.....I am looking forward to see more of everyone Else's outside Wednesday pics take a look over here

Yestersday, we all slept in due to satying up late and colds that we are fighting off. It was a good thing that we all slept as late as we could... but it is a bit hard to get your day going.

So we ate our breakfast, got dressed for the day, and started our chores as we always do.

Christopher, saw the binoculars that my oldest gave to our family, and asked if after his chore he could go out and look..... of coarse I said.... well every time he saw something he would report to me what it was...... mind you he doesn't knowe the names of birds .... but would tell me what color they were.... or even if he saw a deer.... he is a explorer in the making!!!
Dallas, is a little boy that I watch during the week, and while everyone else was creating he was chooseing to build some thing in his 20 month old mind...... It was nice to see this busy little boy so content to stay still for 15 minutes
Rebekah loves to help with anything she can.... and today we decided with bake cookies... I have usually told her what spoon to use and how much...... BUT this time the fraction cramming has planted a seed in her brain.... YES!!!!
We even double the recipe and she was able to figue it out..... I was so very proud of her.
And they became the most beautiful cookies ever and a very proud little girl was smiling from ear to ear.....

So no we didn't do school in a paper sitting kind of way... but we did have alot of hands on learning yesterday.... and it was a wonderful feeling to have and see... I am so greatful that these children are given to me to raise in the way of the Lord.

Blue Monday

Today I woke up to a very chill morning.

I felt like my lips were cold... blue even.

So today is the day that I put on my favorite blue sweater and my blue jeans.

It make me think of my Mom.... she was a flannel shirt and jeans lady ... weather she had blue flannel or not ... she always had blue jeans on... Men's Jeans because women's didn't have her size ( she was 6ft 1inch)... she would live and breath in her jeans.. clean house, go to friends, play hop scotch... so many flash memories of her in blue jeans and trying to do so many creative things with so little money and three very eager little girls ( my sisters and me ).

Now I don't have a picture of her in her jeans and I wish I did.. I will ask my sister and maybe i will post one if I can... welcome to my Blue Monday thought

Well, Tom and I are taking this marriage class at church.

It is great and very informative.... but it also is stirring things up a bit.

I long for tea outside under my apple tree.... while the kids are playing under there home made tent in the shade.
I wish that I could sit and sew while Company was sipping tea and just enjoying the simplicity of life , but yet feeling that I have accompished much.
Yes I wish i had chickens ... so that we could have eggs.... not sure what I would do with the chicken after it stopped laying eggs..... hmmmm.... I would hope that Carlos would come up soon to make some amazing meal out of our wonderful chicken....he he
I am also hopeing to have a Gaden that is way more then just weeds this year.... I want to plan on having much so that I can feel as though I have provided for the family.
And yes I can't wait to hang out laundry.... I have been hanging in the house .... not having a dryer I have to plan accordingly to what is needed the most ... and I have to do laundry every day..... I am not cmpaling about not having a dryer ... actually , It feels good that I am not using electicity ..... so there are some of my thoughts today and until Spring comes.... I will continue to plan.

We had a 80's theme for her 17th B-day party....notice the neon green leg warmers!!!!!
I am also wearing pink leg warmers.... and Had a load of hair spray and makeup on... I was wearing bubblegum colored lipstick.... to bad you can't see it.
The cake was made into a Cassette Tape...and had 17 neon candles on it..... it was very 80's
Now some of the hair dues were very unique... I know they have names... but I am not that hip
The little ones had a blast danceing to the 80's back ground music.... it was so cute to see

Rebekah( who is in 5th grade) just read her first chapter in this book all by her self...... How awsome is that !!!!!

It has been a long journey for her and reading, but every minute of working and tears on reading has finally paid off.

Bekah really likes this book, and even asked if there were more books after this one.....and I of course gave her a whole hardy Yes !!!!!!! Yipeeeeee!!!!!! I am so proud of her.

Sona is working hard ... she has a car , insurance to pay, a job to find, a mexico trip to pay for ..... but yet she is determined to finish school 1 year early.

Chris is hard at work....or should I say trying to be hard at work on his handwriting.... I don't think little boys like to write..... what do you think?
Beka is working on her math at the moment..... is seems to be going really well this year... I am very proud of her as I am of all my children ( sounds like a soap opera)..... It is great to see what God is doing in all of ther lives.

Charles..... I don't have a picture of......but he is hard at work at Best Buy...... He is a hard worker and I am very proud of him.

I am home alone and I found a recipe that I am going to try.... I'll tell you how it came out.

ITALIAN PIZZA BREAD

1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. pizza sauce
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. dry minced onion
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. Italian seasoning mix
2 3/4 c. bread flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. In saucepan warm pizza sauce and baking soda. Then add onion, cheese, butter, salt, sugar and seasoning mix. Heat and stir until cheese melts. Cool to lukewarm. Add beaten egg and dissolved yeast. Stir in half the flour and mix well. Then stir in remaining flour.

Turn onto floured board and knead 5 minutes. Place in 9x5 inch greased bread pan. Brush top with melted butter (sprinkle with sesame seeds). Cover and let rise in a warm place 30 to 45 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from pan, brush with butter. (If necessary cover with foil the last 10 minutes of baking to avoid overbrowning.)

3) do a couple of batches of dehydrated apples ( Yes I am drying apples)

4) Sew pillows for couch

5) Think about dinner .... (I hate that you have to think about dinner in the morning )

6) Make a dessert for no reason...... well , because I am dieing for something sweet

The Laundry room

Yesterday I said that I would clean the laundry room... well i did .

I don't have any before picture but i have after pics.... I am proud.

This is a shelf that I use more in the winter time for boots but comes in handy for other shoes that seem to flood over in my house... the top shelf holds my detergent and bug spray.

This corner is wear i leave the cat food container... this container i bought years ago with cat food in it and now i just buy cheaper cat food and pore it in.... it keeps in very clean... Tom does not like the smell of it... so it works well...... The mop I use on my kitchen floor... it was a dollar 2 years ago... I like it and it works well... I just use my hands to ring it out.....
The white container is what I use for mopping the floor and the coffee container has small holes on the bottom so that I can put my clothes pin in it.... some times the container get left out in the rain and that is why i have small holes in the bottom.
This shelf is above my washer and dryer ... I use this for my arts and crafts.... well and squirt guns and a microscope... but it is used for these things.

And now to tackle the Linin Closet and the Kitchen closet... that is what I will be working on next.....

1) Make sure Chris stops talking so that he can finish his hand writing .

2) do dishes... so that I can keep an eye on Chris while he is doing his hand writing.

3) Make a cake for our churches anniversary service..... and hope that Chris finishes his hand writing by then.

4)Clean my laundry room..... todays project!!!!

5) sew a skirit for myself.... tired of wearing the same one all the time to church...hopefully you didn't notice.

6) before # 5 I need to make sure school is finished.

7) take a nap...... yeah right ... I am not sure this one will happen.
