A Book Meme

I have been tagged by Mother Hen to participate in a Meme. I have to admit that this will be my very first one to be involved in  , so I hope that I do this properly.

The rules of this meme are as follows:

Grab the nearest book.

Open the book to page 56.

Find the fifth sentence.

Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your journal/blog along with these instructions.

Don’t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.

Tag five other people to do the same.

All right, ( I am not sure why the font changed ...sorry) here I go . To the right of me is a book that I always refure to it is called More Charlotte Mason.

Page 56, 5th sentence reads : Second, the more first hand accounts you can find the more accurate your study will be. Third, do not be afraidto challange your children's mind by selecting above -grade -level books. Charlotte wrote that " Education implies a continuous going forth of the mind." ( Vol. 6, p.66)

I now tag:

Maureen

Dee

Wendy

It has been a long journey for her and reading, but every minute of working and tears on reading has finally paid off.

Bekah  really likes this book, and even asked if there were more books after this one.....and I of course gave her a whole hardy Yes !!!!!!! Yipeeeeee!!!!!! I am so proud of her.

Italian Pizza bread

I am home alone and I found a recipe that I am going to try.... I'll tell you how it came out.

ITALIAN PIZZA BREAD
Printed from COOKS.COM

1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. pizza sauce
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. dry minced onion
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. Italian seasoning mix
2 3/4 c. bread flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. In saucepan warm pizza sauce and baking soda. Then add onion, cheese, butter, salt, sugar and seasoning mix. Heat and stir until cheese melts. Cool to lukewarm. Add beaten egg and dissolved yeast. Stir in half the flour and mix well. Then stir in remaining flour.

Turn onto floured board and knead 5 minutes. Place in 9x5 inch greased bread pan. Brush top with melted butter (sprinkle with sesame seeds). Cover and let rise in a warm place 30 to 45 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from pan, brush with butter. (If necessary cover with foil the last 10 minutes of baking to avoid overbrowning.)

The Laundry room

Yesterday I said that I would clean the laundry room... well i did .
I don't have any before picture but i have after pics.... I am proud.
This is a shelf that I use more in the winter time for boots  but comes in handy for other shoes that seem to flood over in my house... the top shelf holds my detergent and bug spray.

This corner is wear i leave the cat food container... this container i bought years ago with cat food in it and now i just buy cheaper cat food and pore it in.... it keeps in very clean... Tom does not like the smell of it... so it works well...... The mop I use on my kitchen floor... it was a dollar 2 years ago... I like it and it works well... I just use my hands to ring it out.....
The white container is what I use for mopping the floor and the coffee container has small holes on the bottom so that I can put my clothes pin in it.... some times the container get left out in the rain and that is why i have small holes in the bottom.
This shelf is above my washer and dryer ... I use this for my arts and crafts.... well and squirt guns and a microscope... but it is used for these things.

And now to tackle the Linin Closet and the Kitchen closet... that is what I will be working on next.....

Organizing and Decorating

These boxes I bought a few years ago... the star box has my wooden blocks for play and the flag box has folded material for future projects.
These two ... I mean three.... have sewing fabric , supply's and colored string for embroidery and cross stitching.... I have many started and not yet finished cross stitching projects....well maybe?
This is an eissal ... not sure how to spell it... well any way I can't wait to try to make dresses and skirts for myself and maybe others... Thanks to Oma!!!!
This is an old sewing cabinet... Tom bought this for me 1yr or so ago.... I love it My machine seems to sit perfectly on top.

This is the hidden drawer that holds thread and needles... underneath I have placed fabric for more future projects.
This is a old fan that Tom grew up with and I am also thinking that this was his fathers growing up..... got to watch those fingers tho.
Here are few of my old books .... I love them as I said earlier.... I do have more... but ... well this is what I have out for now.

This is a mini basket with candles inside for that once in awhile power outage that we get up here. The embroidery was some thing my mom did... it is all made with French knots ..... I have so many other things that I will prob show at another time.

Old things

I love old books....even if I don't read them... the hard cover of some of the older books are beautiful... to me it is art.

So yesterday I displayed some older books in my kitchen/school room.

I also put a little basket with a rose on it.... and then draped my mothers stitching craft she did... I would love to frame it some day.

I am trying to display things that i love in my house. My dinning room/ sewing room needs help... so today i will work on that a bit.

If I can get Sona's camera I will post them.

Small goals.

Now I am not a homemakers dream. I don't have the ability like some to have my house spotless.
Some have the talent of maintaining a home, keeping up with dishes, Laundry, dusting, washing the kitchen floor, the bathroom, master bed room.

Now if you came to my house right now, It is a mess..... My home is not a trash heap ...but it is messy.... If you called and said that your were coming ... I would clean like a mad women .

Now I am setting simple little goals for myself... and i am not sure i want to share them...because of embarrassment..... But, If any of you could share with me your daily schedule for your house , then maybe it will help me with mine.... Am I being selfish by asking?....nah.... I am just trying to figure out why I can't seem to always have a clean house.

Flowers, weed and Veggies

Weed.... what can i say... I have not perfected Gardening
at all!!!!!!

These are my tomatoe plants
This is all i had time to plant this year
Next year is going to be better!!!

I love my flowers , this is the first thing I see. and it makes me happy to know that they at least look nice.

Motivation!!!!

Were is it?

I have a creative mind but no room to splurge.... that is how i feel!

When money is always the issue it is a hard to think creatively .

Now I am usually the queen of frivolously finding ideas ... you know the the one who will make something out of rubber bands and tissue.... but NOTHING is coming to my mind .

Grrrrrr... I just thought I would share.... If I think of some thing I will tell ya...in the mean time I will do the normal stuff that I do every morning.... boy I sound like I am complaining... sorry.

One step at a time

Since I am back home , with great joy in my heart. I have made a goal to work on putting the house back in order.
First thing I did was straighten and clean the entrance way and dinning room..... it is the first thing I see when i walk in and it bring me great peace in knowing that it is in order....... then second thing was the living room.... dust , put things away, vacuum and water the plants that are screaming ... HELP ME!!!

Thirdly, I caught up on six loads of laundry....yes in one day i did this.....and lastly I cleaned my bed room.... it still needs attention in area's but it will have to do until another time.

Now I did not do all of this in one day ... that is something I would have done normally.... but I decided that I was not going to stress over things that will be here tomorrow..... ahhhhh it feels so go to be home

Trophy Children

What we want to do with our children, is not merely to control them and keep them in order-but to implant true principles deep in their hearts which shall rule their whole lives; to shape their character from within into Christ-like beauty, and to make of them noble men and women, strong for battle of life. They are to be trained rather than governed. Growth of character, not merely good behavior-is the object of all home governing and teaching. Therefore the home influence is far more important than the home laws; and the parents' lives are of more significance than their teachings. Whatever may be done in the way of governing, teaching or training-theories are not half as important as the parents' lives. They may teach the most beautiful things-but if the child does not see these things modeled in the life of the parent, he will not consider them important enough to be adopted in his own life.

It is from J. R. Miller's classic book, Home-Making, originally published in 1882:

Coming Home

That is just it..... I am coming home were I belong... My husband needs me and my children do also.... and to be honest... I need them..... this has been a road that was needed to be taken....but it is a short chapter that is about to end.

ahhhhh....HOME!

Vinegar again!!!

Today I desides that I would try weeding my walk way and my garden with hopes to have a garden with veggies.

I have very stubborn weeds that have long roots and break and will not come up....so I googled Vinegar as a weed killler and wouldn't you know ..... It does..... I took a spray bottle .... rinsed it out then filled it with vinegar and some salt ..... and went spraying some of those stobborn weeds..... they are turning brown !!!!!!..... I also am trying baking soda... I read on google some werew that it might work..... it sure beats round out @ 20.00 a gallon.

So there is my little tidbit of info.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

how's it going?

Well it is going pretty well.
My job has a lot to it more then I thought.
My first week was training on a computer ....many many hours... I thought my eyes were going to burst, and my brain was going to pop.

The the next week I was brought up front... we lets just say that I have a better appreciation for cashiers and for the service desks in retail..... I do understand why the walmart lady is grumpy, and won't say a word , or why the complain about there job. Now I am not a complainer.... and I will always give a smile and go out of my way to help ...and let me just say...people are not use to that.... they look at me very strangely .... it's ok.... but what has happened to the world that we live in....it has really opened my eyes to why people are the way they are.... first and for most they need Jesus!!!!.... there are so many lost people out in this world ... and maybe i was living in a bubble for so long that i didn't see it all.... Now my job is very difficult... and I do understand why people have quit this position ... but I am determined to make it work.

Well there you go.... I miss the blog world and my friends and family very much.... have a blessed week.

Who said it?

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder."
This is a quote that I have heard on and off through life , but didn't know who said it the first search I did said that It was quoted by Eleanor Roosevelt .

But then i did more searching and found out it is from a poem by,
Thomas Haynes Bayly...the poem is titled Isle of Beauty .

What would not I give to wander

Where my old companions dwell?

Absence makes the heart grow fonder:

Isle of Beauty, fare thee well!

I thought of this quote because Tom has been away for about 6 days and we have missed him very much.... we pick him up at the airport today..... So the quote: Absence make the heart grow fonder is true .... I think.... what do you think?

cough remedies

The past couple of nights.... well more like a week . My house has had the flu, followed by a cold and cough..... It has not been very lively around here, We have watched more TV to the point that kids are begging to shut it off.....I have two couches that have been occupied by children, with one on a mattress on the floor ......Now I am not complaining at all, I am glad that I have them home... I just thought that I would give you a visual of what my house looks like.

Now we are done with the flu over here, but the cough still remains.
So I went on line and looked up cough remedies and found many ideas.
There are so many different things out there to try.... but will it work.

I have tried DM cough syrup, and it doesn't help much.
So today I am going to get some friendly neighbor honey and mix it with some lemon juice, this is one of the ideas from this site.

As far as a cure for the common cure... there are a lot of different ideas out there.
If you have any ideas on how to help a runny nose.....please feel free to share.
